I was so excited to receive this blog award from my friend, Krista over at Kristas Crafty Corner.  It is called the Leibster Award.  Liebster is German for "beloved" or "favorite."   Check out Krista's blog for some great crafting ideas and inspiration.  If you like what you see I hope you'll follow her blog.

The rules of acceptance are as follows:

1. Thank the giver and link back to the blogger who gave it to you.
2. Reveal your top 5 picks and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.
3. Copy and paste the award on your blog.
4. Have faith that your followers will spread the love to other bloggers.

Check out these simply elegant cards!

I was inspired to make these cards from Susann at www.1026designs.blogspot.com.  I didn't have the supplies to case them exactly, but I like what I came up with.  To recreate this card you will need the following:
October Stamp of the Month (S1110)
A Holiday Stamp set (A1115)
Clear Sparkles (Z1104)
Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge (Z1686)
A closer look at the inside
The box to hold the set of 6 cards, I am giving as a hostess gift.
The card was made using the Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge and was cut at 4.25 so it will fit in a standard envelope.  I used the holly cutouts from the card to decorate the inside.  I stamped them with the A Holiday stamp set.  The leaves were smaller but that didn't matter. I stamped the Christmas tree directly on the card and then cut the tree on the cricut cartridge at 3 inches (a quarter of an inch smaller than the stamp to achieve a layered look.  The box was cut at 11 inches.  Hope you enjoy!

Wonderland Layout

Here is a layout I made for a CTMH gathering tonight.  I used the Wonderland Level 2 paper pack (X7146B), Snowflake stamp set (D1480), Top Coats Icing (Z1478), Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge (Z1686) and coordinating cardstock (Crystal Blue, Heavenly Blue, Grey Flannel, White Daisy). I also used the magic book page 28-29.  I just rotated the first page of the layout for a totally different look.  Above are pictures of the layout and the magic book layout so you can see how "scraplifting" still gives you a creation all your own. Here are the individual pages pictured for more detail.

Today's Mess

Today's post let's you into real life at the Hoffer house.  I was at the computer this morning researching fall decorations for a family party we are having when Cohen (age 4.5) runs in saying "You have got to see this Graycen (age 1) got white stuff all over the place."  I paused for a moment with worst case scenario running through my head.  I had just bought a 10 pound bag of flour earlier in the week and suspected that was the "white stuff" he had found.  Walking out to the kitchen with a sigh of relief it was baking soda.  Still a mess, but a much smaller one.  And here is the best news of all...I maintained my cool and didn't get angry.  After all boys will be boys.

Glimpses of You Layout using Elemental Paper

Here's another layout using the Elemental Level 2 Paper Pack.  I distressed the cardstock with the ink pad to paper technique using white daily and cocoa inkpads.  I am not sure if the end result is what I had hoped.  What do you think?

Layout highlighting Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge

Here's a layout using up some retired CTMH paper pack.  Everything on the layout is CTMH except the little memorabilia envelope holding my son's hair.  There are 8 ways I used the new Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge on this layout.  See if you can spot them.  The answers are below:
1) the shaped background paper that the title is sitting on
2) the title itself (same font, two different sizes)
3-6) Cutouts for the stamped images using the stamp set Blue Ribbon
7) the 2 borders the ribbon is resting on
8) the pennants at the top corner cut then cut a 1/4 smaller to mount on the base piece.
The possibilities are endless.

Here is another layout using the Mischief Level 2 Paper pack from CTMH.  However, most of this layout is compiled of cardstock only.  I chose white daisy cardstock and distressed the edges using our Edge Distresser.  Then I misted the corners of the paper with water and crumpled them.  Using the foam texture tool, I inked black all around the paper.  The creases from crumbling took on extra ink and gave me my own unique background paper.  I also used sky cardstock to accentuate this layout.  I used the new Just Blooms Paper Shapes (butterflies) inked in sky.  These are very versatile embellishments.  The base is colonial white and then can be inked any color to coordinate with your layouts or cards.  Here are two more photos of the layout to see the detail. Thanks for looking!

Even yucky photos can be made beautiful!

Now this an example of when the coloring in the photos just didn't turn out.  We were in the doctors office with their yellow walls and lighting...Yuck!  But the woman in the photo is Dr. Livingston (my OBGYN).  I wanted a photo with her and my son Graycen because she was his guardian angel.  I had gotten pre-eclampsia with all of my prior pregnancies.  I was showing increased protein in my urine which is the best indicator for this disorder and all of the other physicians were very lax about the condition, saying I should just go on bedrest until 39 weeks with no other monitoring.  I called Dr. Livingston at home because she was just finishing up her own maternity leave.  She listened diligently to what had transpired and got me in that week for an induction which was the best scenario for mom and baby.  So because this memory is so important to me, I had to find a way to make this yellow photo more beautiful.  I used all CTMH products on this layout.  You may be surprised to know I used the Mischief Level 2 paper pack (thought to be our Halloween paper pack) on this layout.  All of the fancifully cut paper pieces were done using the Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge.  I paired the Mischief Paper with Sky Blue and used buttons (blue assortment).  So if your photos didn't turn out as great as you had hoped, don't be afraid to dress them up a little to preserve your memories.

Beach layout using Elemental Paper pack

I finally got some time to work on personal scrapbooking with the new paper packs.  Here is a layout featuring the elemental paper pack.  I did use some non CTMH items I had laying around (the orange ocean background paper and the title tag.  I also tried mud puddles for the first time.  That is the substance that made the sandy border.  It was interesting to work with to say the least.  Thanks to my dear friend Tammy for sharing her goodies with me to try.  Thanks for looking!  Hope you enjoy!
