Top Ten Reasons why the Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge is a must have!

The cricut art philosophy cartridge can be yours for FREE if you take advantage of the great special this month that ends in just 4 days.  So each day until the end of the promotion I am going to be sharing why I think this cartridge rocks. Don't wait click here for more details.

Reasons 4: The 3 sheets of coordinating chipboard pieces and 3 coordinating stamp sets all included with the cartridge.  What do I mean by coordinating?  The images that cut on the cartridge can then be placed on the chipboard and fit perfectly with added depth and dimension.  The images from the 3 exclusive stamp sets all cut on the cartridge as well.  The storage sheet that holds the stamps tells you what measurement to cut the image at to get it to be a perfect match.  Below are images of the chipboard pieces and all 3 stamp sets.  Click on them to see a larger view.

Cruisin' Week: Day 4 (Going Places)

Here is the final layout for my travel class.  For more info, check out my Upcoming Events Tab above.  This layout was inspired by another CTMH consultant's and the layout on page 57 of the current idea book.  Take note that the border on the right page of the layout is made using a zipstrip (the half inch border attached to every piece of CTMH paper).

This week I want to feature the New Cruisin Paper Pack (X7154B).  The first layout I created was to show the versatility of the paper pack.  I made sure it was not a travel layout, but my baby's first ice cream cone.  Hope you enjoy.  Come back tomorrow to see more cruisin layouts!

Get the How To Books While You Still Can, I Did!

Corporate sent us an email this week regarding the How To Books featured on page 10 of the Idea Book (Spring/Summer 2012 Catalog).  I wanted to share it with those of you who have been eying up the books for a while and may not have purchased them yet.  Here is what corporate wrote: As you are aware, we have announced that each of our How-To Books will be retiring. Despite being featured in the Spring/Summer 2012 Idea Book, quantities for these titles are extremely limited and inventory will not be replenished once we run out. We anticipate running out of some of the How-To Book titles as early as this month (March), so if you or your customers have been waiting to order one or more of these books, now is the time to buy!
Below are images of the 6 books that are still available as of now along with item numbers.
 Cherish (9029)
 Imagine (9030)
Reflections (9031) One of my favorites
 Originals (9032)
 Magic (9034) My other favorite
 Wishes (9033)

Technique Week: Day 4 (Creating your own background paper)

There are actually 2 techniques, I used for these layouts.  The first is to use a background stamp or any image for that matter to make your own background paper.  I used sky cardstock, the New Diverse Backgrounds Stamp Set (D1508), and Pacifica Ink.  I used the spashed paint image to stamp on the background of the sky cardstock.  Sometimes when you use a background stamp you have to pay attention to the orientation of the stamp and where you start and stop so it looks uniform.  But with this image there are no rules.  I rotated the stamp and I definitely didn't pay attention where I started and stopped.  The hay paper is not CTMH, but it is perfect for farm show pictures.  The photos below are 2 individual one page layouts using the technique.  I used the magic book (9034) for the layout idea (only available through 7/31).  I used the layout on page 57 titled Hocus Pocus.  The second technique is to use your How To Books in a different way.  I used the 2 page layout to make 2 single page layouts.  I also modified it slightly to fit the sizes of my photos.  You do not have to be boxed in by the photos sizes on the layouts. This makes any layout sketch very useful.

Technique Week: Day 3 (Children don't have to smile)

This is a technique I stumbled upon by accident.  For this layout I used the retired Creative Basics Wings Collection (X5812).  This item is available in the "While Supplies Last" section of my website for only $3.  Click here for details.  The technique is to let your children be serious or not smile in a photo or two.  This is a group shot of my friends and my kids.  Because the setting is outdoors with the stones and their serious faces, it reminds me of an old time photo.  Remember you can click on the photos to enlarge them.

Technique Week: Day 2 (Using Baker's Twine and Milepost Shapes)

Today I braved getting out the New baker's twine (Z1701).  I wasn't sure just how to use it, but I see it all the time in cards and other layouts, so it is a very popular embellishment.  It is actually super easy to use to...nothing to it.  I simply wrapped it around a piece of cardstock for this layout.  You can also use gluedots to fasten the ends to the back side of your layout instead of wrapping it all the way around.  I paired it with the milepost shapes (Z1464).  Love how it tuned out.  The patterned paper is not CTMH.  I was looking for a bright green to match the photos.  Let me know what you think.
